Damian Green - minister of state
Damian Green is the minister of state for immigration.
Before becoming Member of Parliament for Ashford in 1997, Damian Green was a financial journalist.
From 1978 to 1992, Damian worked for the BBC and the Times, as well as Channel 4 where he was a producer and presenter specialising in business programmes.
In 1992 he joined John Major's policy unit, where he worked for two years. Damian is vice-chairman of the John Smith Memorial Trust.
Parliamentary career
Damian has held a number of different positions in Parliament since he was elected in 1997.
His roles have included opposition spokesperson for education and employment, and separately, environment.
He has also been shadow secretary of state for education and skills, and shadow secretary of state for transport. Damian was shadow minister for immigration from 2005 to 2010.
