Minister of state
Lord Henley is the minister of state for crime prevention and antisocial behaviour reduction, and sits in the House of Lords.
Lord Henley entered the House of Lords in 1977 and has held a number of front bench positions both in government and in opposition.
His ministerial career has included positions in social security, employment, defence and education. Since 1997, he has served in a variety of positions, including opposition chief whip in the House of Lords, opposition spokesman for the Cabinet Office and as a shadow justice minister.
In 2010 Lord Henley became parliamentary under-secretary of state for Defra and was until recently government spokesperson for Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
Lord Henley graduated from Durham University and was called to the Bar in 1977.
