This circular confirms the Secretary of State’s decision to increase the pay of police officers for 2009 following the multi year settlement reached by the Police Negotiating Board (PNB).
The effective dates are set out below. The Home Secretary’s decision applies in respect of Police Officers in England and Wales.
Pay
The pay of all officers, that is, the federated ranks, superintendents, chief officers and police cadets is increased by 2.6% with effect from 1 September 2009.
The new payscales are set out in PNB Circulars 4/2009, 6/2009 7/2009 and 8/2009 and 09/2009.
London Weighting
London Weighting is increased from £2,163 to £2, 220 with effect from 1 July 2009. This has been published in PNB circular 5/2009.
Dog Handlers Allowance
Dog Allowance is increased from £2,025 to £2,079 with effect from 1 September 2009. This has been published in PNB Circular 8/2009.Dog Handlers Allowance
Competence Related Threshold Payment
The Competence Related Threshold Payment is increased from £1,152 to £1,182 with effect from 1 September 2009. This has been published in PNB Circular 8/2009.
