Why has the Identity and Passport Services website moved?
It is the government’s intention to reduce the number of websites to provide cost savings and improved access to government information, departments and their services. To this end, Identity and Passport Service (IPS) content has been integrated into the Home Office's website.
You can still access the former IPS website on The National Archives.

Customer service centre closures
During 2012 IPS will be installing new printing equipment at each customer service centre. This will begin in March 2012 and will be complete by July 2012. Installation of the new equipment will take place on a site-by-site basis over the five months.
Each centre will need to close on the day of installation, and no appointments for the Fast Track one-week service or the Premium one-day service will be available at that site on that day. For the week after installation, no appointments will be available for the Premium one-day service on the Monday and Tuesday. Wherever possible appointments will be offered at other offices.
This work only affects counter applications; applications made using the postal or Check & Send routes will not be affected.
