Domestic violence affects the lives of thousands, and for too long, society has tolerated or ignored it.
Each year, about 150 people are killed by a current or former partner

We are determined to try and prevent domestic violence happening or recurring, and to establish protection and support for all victims.

The Government would like to hear views on its proposals from the public and from those in professional agencies and the voluntary sector who deal with victims and offenders on a regular basis. The Government is particularly anxious to hear from those who are, or have been, victims, to learn more about the practical impact of its proposals, and to find out whether more can and should be done.
