Common commencement dates
This annual statement lists all the Home Office regulations that we know we are bringing forward in 2009.
The Home Office is fully committed to the principle of easing the burdens on business and the voluntary sector wherever possible. One of the initiatives designed to promote this effort was the common commencement dates (CCDs) for regulations that affect business.
The purpose of CCDs - and especially the annual statement - is to help businesses plan for new legislation, and to increase awareness of new or changed requirements.
The CCD system has been developed so that all new regulations should commence on one of two specified dates within the year (6 April and 1 October).
Commencement dates can only fall outside of this system under exceptional circumstances, such as EEU requirements, or matters of National Security.
This annual statement lists all the Home Office regulations that we know we are bringing forward. It includes regulations being introduced on the allotted days and others, which for a variety of reasons, are being brought in on other dates.
