In May 2009, the government published a consultation paper on BZP and a group of substituted piperazines, and an additional 24 anabolic steroids and 2 non-steroidal agents, seeking views on proposals for these substances to be controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and its associated subordinate legislation. The consultation period closed on 13 August 2009.
