Preventing Extremism Together: Places of Worship
This consultation is now closed.
This consultation links initiatives with the Muslim and other faith communities on radicalisation and the role of places of worship as a resource for the whole community. It sought views on how the Government and communities can work together to prevent extremism.
We sought views on a proposed legal process and powers that strengthen the hand of the community and police in dealing with extremism at places of worship. This process is necessary to better protect places of worship and the mainstream majority of worshippers from being targeted by those encouraging terrorism.
This consultation formed part of the strategy with communities to tackle extremism together. We work closely with faith communities to discuss how we tackle extremism. We have been gratified by their response and their determination to find solutions to this problem.
