Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 - Voluntary retention of communications data

    In March 2003 the Home Office published a consultation paper on the issue of a code of practice under Part 11 of the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001. The purpose of this paper was to seek views on the publication of a voluntary code of practice, which would allow communications service providers to retain communications data for periods that may exceed their current business practices.
