Home Office senior staff survey
Cabinet Office conducted a cross-departmental survey of senior civil servants' thoughts on leadership in the senior civil service, working in the senior civil service and possible improvements to the service. These are the results for the Home Office.
The Home Office has been going through a particularly challenging time over the past several months. Ministers have recognised the need for change and officials at all levels have responded quickly to their requirements.
We are committed to an extensive, far-reaching and ambitious reform programme. Our aim is to transform the department into a more proactive, responsive, reliable organisation, with staff working to protect the public.
With this in mind, it is perhaps unsurprising that many Home Office senior civil servants might not be as positive as their counterparts in some other Departments.
As the changes begin to bed down and lead to clear improvements in working practices and skills levels across the department, we would expect to see more positive responses in future surveys.
However, we are encouraged by already some very positive responses, especially on Home Office senior civil servants commitment to the department and their willingness to help it succeed in its very challenging areas of responsibility.
