Home Office Simplification Plan 2006
The Home Office is committed to reducing red tape and burdens on business and the public sector frontline as part of Government's Better Regulation agenda. Regulation that is easy to understand and comply with will help secure stronger commitment and improve the outcomes for all of those affected by Home Office policies.
In December 2006 the Home Office, along with all other Government departments, published our first Simplification Plan below. The plan set out measures to reduce administrative and policy compliance burdens arising from the whole range of our regulatory and enforcement work. The ultimate aim being to reduce regulatory burdens and cut red tape, not to take away rights or protections.
PwC carried out the Administrative Burdens exercise - see the report below. The Technical Summary and the Phase 3 Report provide details of how PwC went about obtaining the admin burden information and the burdens identified.
Proposals you have to reduce Home Office red tape and burdens can be emailed to simplification@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk. We will acknowledge and respond to your proposals.
