Football Stewards and the Private Security Industry Act - RIA and Framework document
The RIA considers the options for ensuring that football stewards, their supervisors and managers satisfy the requirements of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 without creating an unnecessary burden on businesses and individuals affected. The document sets out the Government's preferred option and explains how the proposed framework will work. Ministers have agreed to exempt in-house football club stewards from licensing by the Security Industry Authority under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, on the grounds that suitable alternative arrangements, equivalent for all practical purposes so far as the protection of the public is concerned, either are or shortly will be in place. The Framework document demonstrates how the necessary suitable alternative arrangements to enable stewards to satisfy these criteria either are, or shortly will be, in place.
