Approved courses

The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 and the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Drinking Banning Orders) (Approved Courses) Regulations 2009 allow for the length of a Drinking Banning Order (DBO) to be reduced if an individual satisfactorily completes an approved course to address their alcohol–misuse behaviour.

For a court to propose an approved course, it must be satisfied that a place is available and the subject has voluntarily agreed to attend and to have it included in the DBO. The recipient is required to pay for the course.

Course providers

The following course providers have been approved by the Secretary of State to deliver DBO-approved courses in the areas listed. Courses will be held in appropriate locations throughout these areas with easy access to transport routes:
