PACE Code D governs the exercise by police of statutory powers to identify persons.
The 2011 version of the code was valid from 7 March 2011.
It was superseded by PACE Code D 2017 on 23 February 2017.
As of 31 October 2013, section 64 of PACE, to which Annex F of Code D applies, is repealed and the destruction, retention and use of biometric data are governed by the provisions of PACE as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.

Annex F will remain in Code D until the next available opportunity for the code to be revised but as a result of these amendments to primary legislation, it will no longer be up to date and should not be used.
