The British Crime Survey (BCS) is one of the largest social research surveys conducted in England and Wales and includes a count of peoples’ experiences of crime. The technical report provides supporting information on the BCS every survey year.

Volume 1 of the technical report 2010 to 2011 explains the methodology behind the BCS including how the survey is designed and carried out, information about data collection, the development of the questionnaire, fieldwork, and subsequent weighting and data analysis (see below).

Volume II of the technical report 2010 to 2011 contains the survey documentation associated with fieldwork (including a full copy of the questionnaire), data checks and the questionnaire development process.

Volume II is available from the UK Data Archive through the Economic and Social Data Service where BCS datasets are made publicly available.
