Details

In order to provide further evidence to assist in considering the options set out in the consultation on employment-related settlement, Tier 5 and Overseas Domestic Workers,

Within the cohort, those in lower skilled occupations appeared more likely to obtain settlement soon after reaching the point of eligibility to do so, when compared with those in graduate level occupations. Certain occupations, such as chefs, nurses and care workers, showed a greater propensity than average to settle within the time frame considered compared to other significant groups, including certain types of teacher and researcher. In addition, the 2009 salaries of the migrants who settled within the timeframe considered were lower as a whole (£26,360) than those of the non-settlers (£32,460).
