Review
of Home Office publications of Control of Immigration Statistics - Implementation
Plan
The response to the National Statistics Quality Review of the Home Office’s
publications under the theme of “Control of Immigration Statistics: United
Kingdom” is published today. The review of “Control of Immigration
Statistics: United Kingdom” final report was published on 22nd August
2006. The review was undertaken by Denis Allnutt, former Head of Research &
Statistics in DfES.
The review made eleven recommendations, with priority, in terms of importance,
though not necessarily speed of implementation, being given to the first five
of these. Large parts of the review will inform the Reform Action Plan to improve
the quality of Home Office information. The response details both actions already
under way and those planned for the future to implement the eleven recommendations
of the review, with priority being given to the first five as suggested by the
report. It should be noted that many of the recommendations are dependent on
bids for additional resources and at present no final decisions have been made
on the availability of these resources.
