Guidance
for local partnerships on alcohol-related crime and disorder
data DPR6
This Home Office Development and Practice Report draws out from Home Office
online report 08/03 the messages for practice development, implementation and
operation. Guidance is provided to local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships
(CDRPs) on the best way to collate and utilise data on alcohol-related crime
and disorder, particularly within the context of conducting audits under the
1998 Crime and Disorder Act.
The report advises how to interpret ’alcohol-related
crime and disorder’ for the purpose of auditing. It summarises data sources
and types of data that can be used, and it describes different approaches to
the measurement of alcohol-related crime and disorder that can help overcome
the difficulty of linking alcohol use to crime and disorder. The report also
emphasises the importance of co-ordination between CDRPs and other organisations
to ensure consistency of data collection methods, “mainstreaming” of
data and data sharing. It concludes with recommendations for “good practice” for
CDRPs.
