Underage drinking: findings from the 2004 Offending, Crime and Justice Survey r277

This report is based on an analysis of the 2004 Offending, Crime and Justice Survey and explores the levels, patterns and outcomes of underage drinking among 3,172 10- to 17-year-olds. The report highlights the proportion of underage drinkers and the frequency with which underage persons drink and get drunk. The type of alcoholic drinks consumed by underage drinkers is explored, along with where underage drinkers obtain their alcohol and the proportion of underage drinkers making successful purchases from both on- and off-licensed premises. Finally, the link between underage drinking, offending and disorderly behaviour and other risky behaviours such as smoking and drug use is explored.
