Burglary covers a range of offences characterised by the type of property attacked and the method used.

Properties include:

• domestic dwellings
• inhabited vehicles
• inhabited vessels, for example barges
• multi-occupancy dwellings such as flats, hotels and student accommodation

Reducing Burglary Initiative

The Reducing Burglary Initiative (RBI) was part of the Crime Reduction Programme. We have already evaluated some of the 247 burglary reduction projects in this initiative.

The initiative covered some specific areas including:

• student safety
  
• distraction burglaries
  
• older people’s experiences
