Immigration and Asylum Statistics
The RDS statistics on immigration, asylum and nationality cover:
- passenger arrivals, admissions and refusals at air, sea and Channel Tunnel ports in the UK
- asylum applications and decisions and appeals, and numbers of asylum seekers supported, detained and removed
- applications for an extension of stay, including settlement
- enforcement action against illegal entrants and persons subject to deportation
- persons detained under immigration powers
- immigration appeals
- applications and decisions in respect of British citizenship
Analyses by nationality are published for all the above statistics, with the exception of recent data on enforcement.
We take most of the data from administrative records. However, we compile the data on non-EEA national passenger admissions from a sample of landing cards.
