RDS
NOMS is the part of the Research Development and Statistics Directorate
(RDS) in the Home Office which leads on research and analysis for
the National Offender Management Service (NOMS). The National Offender
Management Service brings together the prison and probation services
as one service. It is responsible for:
Punishment of offenders
Reducing reoffending

NOMS goals are to:
Develop, maintain and report on a high-quality knowledge base
to inform policy making and practice, to help the National Offender
Management Service and the Home Office in England and Wales to
achieve their objectives.
To provide the public and Parliament with information necessary
for informed debate.

NOMS has two teams dealing with:
Research and evaluation
Statistics and analysis.
The research and evaluation work covers:
