RDS
NOMS statistics on offender management cover:
the
main characteristics of the prison population (age, sex, offence,
custody type, nationality, ethnic group, religion, sentence length);
receptions
into prison;
releases
from prison (release on temporary licence, Home Detention Curfew
and parole);
offences
against prison discipline and punishments in prison;
the
main characteristics of offenders under probation service supervision
(age, sex, offence, sentence type, sentence length, additional
requirements of sentence);
commencements
and terminations of community sentences;
pre-
and post-release supervision; and
recalls
to prison and breaches of community sentences.
RDS
NOMS publishes a range of regular statistics on the population in
custody and under probation service supervision.
Monthly
tables on the population in custody give summary figures on the
population in prison establishments, local authority secure children’s
homes (LASCHs) and Secure Training Centres (STCs). More detailed
information on the make-up of the prison population by custody
type, offence group, sentence length, age group and establishment
is also presented.
The annual statistical bulletin covers prison
population and probation service supervision.
