FOI 2277

We received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) for the following:

‘My request relates to the Iranian embassy siege in Princes Gate, London between April 30 1980 and May 5 1980. A number of gunmen seized the Iranian embassy and held the occupants hostage. The siege was finally ended when members of the SAS stormed the embassy.
Under the act, I would like to request a list of files held by the Home Office relating to the siege. I would like to ask for the titles of these files, the dates of these files and any other significant information. I assume that there would be files on this subject, for example, relating to
the offices of the Home Secretary, other ministers, and the Permanent Secretary.’
